Location

We are situated 3 kms north of the River Loire, near Amboise, between Tours and Blois.

'Les Bocages' is located on the outskirts of Monteaux, a small village that has a few services: a post office, a hairdresser’s and, of course, a bar/tabac! You can also find a convenience store serving as boulangerie (handy for your daily croissants), general grocery and butcher’s.

For a wider choice of facilities - a hypermarket, garages, banks, doctors, dentists, pharmacy, petrol station and lots more - there is Onzain, just a five-minute drive away or even Chaumont, a 10-minute drive away with the closest Chateau nearby.

Located 15 minutes away, you have "la belle Amboise" with its superb chateau overlooking the Loire river, Leonardo da Vinci's Clos Lucé, fine dining and its typical historical town centre.

Directions travelling by car

If you are coming from the north via Paris you need to take the A10 motorway, sign-posted Bordeaux, and leave at the Amboise exit, in Autrèche.

  • Drive down into the Loire valley and on reaching the river Loire, without crossing it , follow the signs for Blois along the N152.
  • Drive 13 kms to the village of Veuves where you turn off, following the signs for Monteaux and Mesland.
  • Come right into the village of Monteaux (still following the signs for Mesland) pass in front of the Post Office (if you pass in front of the Mairie you are going the wrong way!) and at the first crossroads, on the bend, take the first turning left, indicated to Le Bois St Laumer.
  • Drive to the top of the street and there turn left into the PETIT St Laumer.

The property is the second on your right, No. 12, a property covered in Virginia Creeper.

Directions travelling by plane

Tours airport is just a 45 minute drive from the gîtes. You can pre-book hire cars from the UK to pick up at the airport.
